SSS Toys is a long serving importer and distributor of toys, gifts and novelties. Christchurch-based, we established our family business in 1977 and now specialise in Science and Nature products, together with educational toys.
After leasing a variety of warehouses over the years, we decided to commission our own design build and in 2005 moved into a 1000 m2 purpose-built warehouse at Hammersmith Drive, Wigram.
In a bid to trim our expenses, in 2014 we decided to lease the space and place our storage and distribution in the hands of Online Distribution, who was recommended by our accountant.
It was difficult for us to relinquish control of these aspects of our business, having been so hands-on for nearly 40 years. We worried that something would go wrong.
But the reality couldn’t be any better. Not only has the shift provided considerable savings, but it has also removed the increasing level of work required to satisfy employment laws, health and safety requirements and the stringent MPI regulations.
For the first four years we took office space in the Online Distribution building so that we could be on hand, should the need arise. But this hasn’t been necessary, and we have now relocated to a home office.
The whole process has gone absolutely smoothly – our customers would not even be aware that we now use Online Distribution, such has been the seamless nature of the change.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Online Distribution; everyone is thoroughly professional, efficient and pleasant to work with; it’s made life a lot easier for us and allowed us more time to concentrate on our business.
