Fuel Surcharge (FAF and RUC)
Online Distribution operates a fuel surcharge on all freight rates. The fuel surcharge is made up of the Fuel Adjustment Factor (FAF) and Road User Charges (RUC). This reflects the market approach and is seen as a fair and transparent means to recover direct costs arising from ongoing fuel price fluctuations.
Fuel Surcharges are typically set monthly however may be adjusted or averaged within a billing period where underlying carrier charges change. Where carrier fuel surcharges change within a month, Online Distribution may apply a weighted average approach to ensure charges fairly reflect actual costs. Fuel surcharge percentages communicated during a month may be indicative only. Final fuel surcharge rates are confirmed at the end of the billing period to reflect actual carrier charges incurred.
The charges invoiced by Online Distribution reflect both the fuel surcharges applied by carriers and the mix of transport providers used to deliver services. Carrier fuel surcharge methodologies and timing may vary, including differences in update frequency and lag such as weekly, monthly or temporary surcharges.
