Client Update 12 May 2020 – Freight / Courier Update

The recent move from Alert Level 4 to Alert Level 3 saw an unprecedented spike in fulfilment activity throughout the country, and we expect demand to further increase as we move to Alert Level 2 later this week. All of New Zealand’s Freight and Courier companies are struggling to keep up with parcel volumes exceeding peak Christmas demands, as well as the mandatory requirements of social distancing and additional cleaning procedures. We are in constant contact with our Freight and Courier partners and are encouraged by the introduction of extra shifts, added labour resource and vehicles, and in many cases an extension of delivery services to seven days / week.

Despite the introduction of these additional measures, we have been advised that our clients should expect delays of up to two days on courier deliveries and three days on freight deliveries. We recommend clients manage their customers’ last mile expectations accordingly, and continue to check https://www.onlinedistribution.co.nz/news/ for any updates.

Please be assured that both Online Distribution and our Freight and Courier partners are doing all we can to get our clients’ goods delivered to their customers in the safest and fastest way possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected] if we can help you with your move to Alert Level 2 or if you have any questions.
