Further Update on Effects of ex-Cyclone Gita
Ex-tropical cyclone Gita moved off the country this morning, but there are wind, severe weather and coastal weather warnings still in place for various parts of the country this afternoon/evening. States of Emergency remain in place for several areas including Taranaki, the upper South Island and the West Coast, and there are road closures in the upper South Island and north of Wellington.
It is likely that there will be further freight delays over the next few days as conditions slowly return to normal.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this period. Our thoughts remain with those most affected including the Tasman District, the West Coast and the lower North Island, as well as Tonga and the South Pacific.
