Earthquake Transport Update 18 November

Posted 18 November 2016
All general courier and freight services remain largely unchanged since the update yesterday.
The option to divert the KiwiRail ferry Kaitaki onto a Wellington to Lyttelton service remains under review, with a limited weekly sailing being considered. Should this option materialise we are under the impression this service won’t be available until December.
Regarding Dangerous Goods, the following restrictions are currently being managed for Dangerous Goods:

  • Sourcing appropriate containers for the movement of Dangerous Goods ex Auckland via Coast is proving challenging at this time, and is a priority to resolve by our freight partners.
  • Limitations on container space remain for all classes of Dangerous Goods on current services ex Auckland to Lyttelton.
  • Further capacity Inter-Island will be available once the Inter-Islander’s Aratere vessel is operational on Cook Strait (licenced to carry dangerous). We remain hopeful this will be early next week.

As further information becomes available, we will keep you updated.
